As a current owner of both Audi and BMW cars you make BMW owners look real bad...all of you. Can't you guys get along? The E36 M3 and S4 are built for slightly different clientele/uses. I have tracked my S4 (both S4 sedan and avant) many many times. In fact I instruct for NASA/SCCA Street School, Quattro Club, TracQuest, Miata Club, and a few others. My S4 has 245/35/18 tires...no 225s for me. I also have a BMW race car. Are there E36 M3 drivers that are slow at the tracks around me (Laguna/Sears Point/Thunderhill/Buttonwillow/Willow Springs/Spring Mountain)? Yep, lots of them...are there S4 drivers that are slow?...sure...lots of them too. BUT, there are also S4 drivers that can haul ass. I know of two that could run circles around you even if you were in an E46 M3 with Hoosiers. I also know several S4 owners that hit Texas World Speedway...donp, Hugh, Oscar, and they aren't slow..or in the green group.

Why does this M3 vs. S4 argument always rear its ugly head? I have lots of M3 friends here in NorCal that respect the S4 for what it is. Slightly tweaked, with a decent driver, the S4 hangs just fine thank you.

Be nice...

Steve S.
