an S4 on the street, and a gutted, race-prepped E30 M3 on the track.

Since I happen to like the concept of an all around car, and don't have the coin to support both, the E36 M3 was a logical choice. Kind of blends qualities from both cars, an admirable car on the track and a decent daily driver. Back to some limited exposure to muscle cars when I was a kid, I liked the expression "run what you brung". . .

In a related note, the observed attitude on the audi board strikes me as similar to the attitude on the S2000 boards (I used to own one). The place is littered with comments bashing the Boxster. Lurking around the Boxster boards, I never really saw a reciprocal attitude. I think the same applies here, noting, of course, we have some bmw zealots, who think that the Roundel = superiority. I just think it's less prevalent.
