I plan to have a local BMW dealership inspect the car too. But I'm affraid they will not go into details about the exterior and interior conditions. I don't think the will look for a cigarrete hole on the headliner, won't they? I'm kinda anal about small little things.

What do you guys suggest? Should I have a BMW dealership or an independent shop inspect the car?

That's what a pre-purchase inspection is for.. Find a decent shop in the area (car talk has a shop finder if you can't get a recommendation here), and pay them ~$100 to check the car out.
