I plan to have a local BMW dealership inspect the car too. But I'm affraid they will not go into details about the exterior and interior conditions. I don't think the will look for a cigarrete hole on the headliner, won't they? I'm kinda anal about small little things.

What do you guys suggest? Should I have a BMW dealership or an independent shop inspect the car?

Thanks!

Yeah, I know where you're coming from. Might be better to go with a dealer if you don't know the shop, but I had good luck with an independent shop. Just talk to them on the phone and make sure they understand what you expect them to check out, both mechanical and cosmetic. If they make you feel confident they can do it, go for it; otherwise, give another shop a call.

No one who isn't buying the car themselves is likely to find every tiniest thing, but they should be able to catch the stuff that would be really annoying.

Good luck.
