Not only would your insurance be invalid if you tried to collect on it if you got into an accident, but the insurance company would then report you to the state insurance commission which would likely be followed by a warrant for your arrest for misdemeanor insurance fraud. No jail time, but a multi-thousand dollar civil penalty would be your reward for saving a few pence in insurance premiums. Don't do it!
I'd offer to even trade an M3 VIN plate to my buddy so he can soup up his 318. Then I'd just pay less insurance all the time. Win-win situation, no?
