The first M5 to be displayed to anyone outside of BMW was painted in LeMans Blue. They were expecting to have it as an original color on the M5, but they had problems keeping the paint on the fascia, so they opted to temporarily go with Avus until they could fix the situation, while is why Avus exterior and the LeMans interior don't really go together well. I guess they have fixed the situation, therefore LeMans is offered. Those pictures of the 1st press day are definitely LeMans.

: That's not Lemans Blue. Those pictures are of an Avus Blue M5. The BMW website does have LeMans blue exterior color shown on the "Build your own BMW" section, but the color sample does not accurately portray what the car looks like in natural light (i.e., the photo used in the website was of a car in a studio with artificial backlighting).
