I was at the local home depot and spotted a E39, badged as an M5. It had the quad exhaust and the right wheels. The two things that threw me were the wood trimed interior and the bike rack on the roof. I thought all M5's had brushed aluminum. Had I just spend $86K + for an M5 I wouldn't use it to haul my bike around, or park in in a Home Depot lot at 9pm on a Saturday.

a) My M5 has the wood-trim interior. The metal just felt cheap - like a stamping rather than machined billet - and I didn't want that.

b) I've parked my M5 in the Home Depot parking lot at 9PM. At least half a dozen spots from any other occupied parking place (I never thought I'd behave that way with a car, but there you are.)

c) I didn't pay $86K+ for mine, and wouldn't have done so.

d) I've never had a bike rack on mine, and with an old Suburban in the driveway, I don't see much need to.
