Are dealers replacing alum shift knobs and trim that are peeling?

I've heard some horror stories of owners having to replace (several times) their shift knobs & other pieces due to flaking & peeling. I switched to the Club Bruyerre wood for precisely this reason.

Check out the current owner's posts at bmwm5.com do a search under "peeling interior"

I think they fixed all that. Got mine in July, and have put 5200 miles on it and have zero flaking or peeling of the interior. I heard they fixed it after the 05/00 build dates.
