Sat in the Z8 today at VOB, Rockville, MD....OH MY GOD! I'm lost for words w/ this vehicle. This car is unbeleivably gorgeous. The magazines or pictures do not do this car any justice. W/ its sleek styling, bulging fenders, incredible interior design and the massive twin exhaust tips for a stock vehicle it is very impressive.
Then I crawled under an M5 for a bit, I was sporting wood through out that entire hour at the dealership. Then I found a '01 540 in a bay getting prepped for a customer. Those lights are amazingly attractive up close in the 'flesh'. Close inspection of the '01 headlight assembly alows me to say and think that they will fit 97-00 models.
I parked my 540 next to the '01 and popped the hoods on the girls and it looks like a direct fit. I asked one of the technicians about the possible fit and he also seemed to agree. hmmmmm, looks like I'm calling my contacts at Hella for some orders.
For 130-140K I'd still take a Porsce 911 turbo and have some money left over for mods. vs. the Z8. Speaking of 911 turbo's, a buddy of mine has his 911 turbo over at Autothority for the Stage 3 upgrades. The car is running a stage 1 kit now w/ 470HP to the WHEELS and is a screamer! The SOB decided that the novelty has worn out and needs to kick it up a notch to the stage 3 kit. My friend is very competitive and must have the biggest or baddest ride on the street. (I hate him! :}}}) This kit includes the upgraded turbos, massive intercooler, custom chip tuning, intakes, complete exhaust upgrades w/ high flow cats, headers, downpipe, etc, killer coil over suspension (GT3?), cams, clutch, dyno time, MFS, actuators, boost controller, FPR and some other minor details that come with a 207 HP bump. So, I guess the 677HP to the WHEELS will never get old. This is his track/street car to get him to work and back every once in a while.
YEEEEEHHHAAAAAA!
John
But not the fastest Euro car.
For that amount, you could've just bought and saved on a faster new Porsche 911 Twin Turbo for only $ 111,000. What would you do if I upgrade my ECU, intercooler and turbos?
Hope you drive in the Autobahn coz that's where I am looking at you in my rearview mirror.
FYI, 0-60 stock is 3.5 secs.
