OK, two things that I'm not sure about. First is going to sound stupid. What needs to be in what position to start an M5?

The owner's manaul says neutral with the parking brake on, depress the clutch.

Most times today though I have to be in reverse in order to get it to turn.

Are there some combinations that will less likely make me look like a fool when trying to start the car?

Next, I'm getting the TIRECHECK DISABLED message as mentioned in the archives. Are there any secrets here? I've tried to reset it but it won't take.

thx
