You got to buy sometime. There are many things to consider but if the car will bring you joy you shouldn't have any regrets for next year.
And keep in mind that I gave up a #10 spot on allocation to pay a premium on a used Y2K just so I could feel some of that mojo sooner.
I've spent considerable effort over the past several months trying to decide on which color to order.
I'm a big fan of Titanium silver but that's not what I got. I got the same as what BMW's car builder would do at http://www.pebbs.com/mym5/
Black is tough to keep clean. But it is easier to at least tell which parts of the car are dirty.
One thing I did not take into consideration is that driving this color combination is like dating a super-model. I've had more guys come up to me in two days to compliment me on the car and ask about it and more girls with the "pick me" look.
Now, some of the guys may know about the "M" part of the car but I think mostly it's the color.
4. Interior options: know that if you order a solid interior color other than black, various inserts including the dash will be in black. This is not like the 3 series cars whose interiors are of one like color. Some may enjoy the two-toned look, but I think having solid interior colors would have been a better (and, yes, more expensive) choice. The 'combination' interiors like the Lemans Blue or Silverstone certainly add a dimension of sportiness (with the Aluminum Trim), but it may become something one tires of after a while.
Ask me in a few months. The aluminum look is far more subtle than I though it would be and again that's one of the reasons I went with the used models. I wanted to see that damned trim combination before I placed my order. This car is two-tone with the trim too and rear window shade so it had all the must haves for me.
It will probably happen next year, along with the elimination of the in-dash cassette player and addition of XM radio and optional plasma TV screen for broadcast and Internet connection.
When that happens I'll likely look at a trade-in myself. We'll see.
