1)Sit in seat WITH seatbelt on.

2)turn key to first position (where all lights illuminate)

3) push tire set button until "set tire pressure" is seen on the display

You forgot step 0:

Check the tire pressures with a good gauge so that you know they're right to begin with.

The monitor just works on changes in rolling radius of the tire; it won't help you if you start with incorrect pressures.
