Have you mentioned the service bulletin to the dealer? It specifically speaks of the car production date and not the engine.

It would be good if all of us with this build could have the dealer pull the service bulletin and call BMW NA hotline to confirm.


I too have a 5/00 build date and the 10W-60 sticker. Go with the oil spec on the car. Your (our) M5 engine may have been built much earlier (likely were) than the May assembly date. The sticker indicates that the engine still has the "old" (more of a racing style) rings.

I will continue to run 10-60 through cold months.
