My M5 also has a MAy 2000 build and like you, I too have a sticker under the hood which indicates using 10W60 oil. And that is what they have been using since I bought the car. I had the dealer change the oil at 1200 miles and also just recently at 4000 miles, and each time, they insist it should be 10W60 RS Castrol oil. I am having my BMW mechanic find out for me if this is really the correct oil or is there some information from BMW which is not making it to the dealers??

I'm sure the bulletin is making it to the dealer. My printout only has two pages though and apparently there are 4.

Something is incorrect. Either the sticker is wrong or the bulletin is. Insist that the dealer pull the bulletin and check with BMW NA hotline.

This way we should get a consensus.

I just left a message with my service advisor at Hendrick.
