If you're like me, you were irritated the first time you turned on the foglamps on the M5 and noticed how poorly they matched the HID low-beam headlights. The stock halogens look quite yellow compared to the light blue hue of the main lights. Last week I installed a set of 9006 PIAA SuperWhite HB4 51-watt bulbs to see if they would improve the situation. In my estimation, they're a partial fix. The PIAA's are both brighter and whiter than the stock bulbs by a good margin. From the front, the foglamps still don't color-match the low beam lights, but they're no longer so different as to be obvious. From inside the car, the fogs actually produce useful light on the road ahead; with the stock bulbs, it's hard to even tell if they're on. Summary: if you're bothered by aesthetics at this level, the PIAA SuperWhites are a $70 fix.
