The Subaru Impreza (4 door production sedan) is faster than the M5 both 0-60 and 1/4 mile. See the article below.

All too common I see people state "who cares as long as it is as fast as x". Clearly, "x" varies based on the individual. Personally, 4.8 seconds is not enough differentiation from the 540 to be significant to me. I would prefer an M5 that does 0-60 sub 4 (a 40% increase in acceleration rather than 15%). There might be hope since MB is working on a 450 HP E55. BMW may up the ante with a more powerful M5.
