It isn't hard. It is fun. It is a bit intimidating at first. You CAN learn on an M5. However - you should know that with 400hp under your left foot, the M5 WILL NOT TOLERATE MUCH ABUSE before you burn up the clutch and it will slip. There has been a LOT written about this on the www.bmwm5.com message board - suggest you go there and search on "clutch".

The short lesson: Do NOT try to drag-launch, or shift fast until you can do so with minimal clutch slip. Under no case should you ever be allowing (with your foot) the clutch to slip while you're transmitting a lot of power. The clutch MUST be fully engaged first. It is perfectly OK for the clutch to slip while you "feather" shifts and launch from a stop in 1st - just don't open the throttle more than a crack in either case until you've let the clutch all the way out.
