Oh boy, you may not want to read further, but the US version of the M5 is much different than the German version and not in a good way. Examples:
-Euro M5 gets full floating brake rotors for better stopping power. They are also light weight aluminum instead of the heavy steel like the US gets. In 2 head to head reviews with the E55 when equipped with the same tires, the M5 lost in brake stopping distance.
-The light housings are glass instead of plastic. This gives more defined beams and better visibility.
-comfort close - the windows & sunroof can be closed from outside the car.
-wide angle and auto dimming side view mirrors.
-more colors and leather types to choose from including buffalo leather
-double glass reduces noise and moisture buildup on the windows.
-instant heating system provides heat before the engine is hot
-the bmw individual program provides many exclusive options (see link). This is available in virtually every other geography but the US. For instance, it is available in Europe/UK, Middle east, Singapore and Canada.
-there are many other differences which I did not outline
