I think I have a good contact at BMW NA that is trying to get to the botom of the "which oil to use" in the May 2000 production M5s. If you have one of these cars and would like to be kept up to date in e-mail, please send me your e-mail name.

Include your first and last name and VIN if you'd like to be on any group complaint letters to BMW.

Meanwhile, if anyone has had oil service yet from the dealer, or have topped off oil yourself, please let me know which viscosity oil you used.

This may seem minor to some folks but I'm not letting this go. If NA cannot answer the question WITH CERTAINTY they can either buy the car back or face a lawsuit.

Needless to say, the survey for oil service will not be satisfactory until the factory explains why the engine sticker states 10W-60 and the service bulletin states 5W-30.

thanks
