I have an 01 Carbon Black. Check out the link to the photos. I agree with Mark. The car is more midnight blue then black. I describe it as a New York Yankee helmet blue. In the photos you get a good feel for how it changes color under different lighting. You'll see the same photo repeated with a flash and then without. The color is a killer, people love this car when the see it. I just got the windows tinted as well and it's a killer.

Anybody who has Carbon Black like it? or is it hard to maintain? Is it mostly black or you can really see some blue even if the car is not clean?
Thanks

I had the opportunity to see a new M-5 at a dealer last week in Carbon Black. I would have sworn that it was black, even 5 feet away. The car had some dirt on it and looked very dull, especially the vertical sides. When the sun broke through the clouds, the hood, roof and trunk really exploded into color, however, the sides still looked to be black. It is an amazing color when the sun hits it just right. The car was brand new, and I could see swirl marks and small abrasions in the paint. Since I live in cloudy, wet Oregon, Carbon Black would be very difficult to live with. I cannot stand seeing wash swirls and surface abrasions in my paint; for that reason, Carbon Black would be only slightly less easy to live with than full Black.
