problems with my 2000 m5 (archive)

tonight I was in a deserted area of downtown baltimore and my m5 decided it would be a great time to start idealing hard and the check engine light came on, I got it home on limp mode, this is the second time.. I understand the m5 is a complicated automobile but I am a bit disipointed in the reliabilty factor... has anyone else had this problem?
