Tim, I owned an m5, and at the same time my father has an '00 s500. The vehicles are very different. The mercedes has a very smooth idling engine and is very large and accomadating. However, it is a luxury sedan and a luxury sedan only. The s500 can't compare to the m5 in terms of performance. The m5 in terms of size seems a little bit smaller than a 540 in the back seats. However you can easily fit 3 large men in the back without much problem. The m5 comes basically fully loaded, and has very few options, an s500, fully loaded can be anywhere from $80-$100k+. If your father was considering a 360, then most likely he seems to be somewhat of a car enthusasist. A true car enthusiast would pick an m5 over an s500 anyday. And now you are asking why did you get rid of your m5 if it was so "good"? Well, another driver got rid of it for me (unfortionetly). You can see pics of my car at the URL at the bottom. BTW if your dad opts for the s500, try to talk him into the s55 AMG, however at $135k I definetly do not think it's worth it. Just my opinion.

I dunno what his deal is, but when the company he works for goes public, he's gonna get a new toy. He was thinking a 360, but, too small. He wants an S500. He's against the M5 because it's "too small". He wants a family car now. Is the 5 series really that small? I know mine isn't huge, but my brother's a junior in high school, I'm already out, why does he need a really big car? I think the M5 would be a great choice. Somebody talk some shit about the S500 I can tell him, I've already heard the HVAC/NAV system is hella confusing... And the obvious price difference... anything else? Thanks.
