Okay, I think I may have a foot in the door. We've been a primarily BMW family from the get-go ('83 320i purchased new that I flipped-"oops",'89 735i also brand new, '90 535i 5-speed I bought 2 years ago-time to swap the K&N & Jim C. so I can pass smog!, and a '78 450SL with 43,xxx miles on it. We also have a Chebby Tall-Ho, but that's neither here nor there... Anyhow, I ran the cars up on their respective websites and it seems that a 740iL w/sport package is about $18,000 less than an MBZ comparably equipped, maybe a little better. Hmmm... another nail in the S500 coffin. Actually, the Lexus LS430 doesn't look TOO bad. I know it's a cheaper car, but it's MUCH cheaper than the 740iL and apparantly (from all the mag reviews) not much worse quality!
