I have already posted this on BMWM5 message board - in case BMW NA is reading this board here is a repost.

I've owned my '01 M5 for 22 days now and 8 of those days the car has been at the dealer due to engine missing/misfire problems. First they thought it was a fuel injector. Then, they thought it was the DME. It took 4 days for the service dept. to figure out how to ORDER the part. I was told it was in a dist. center in MS, then it was on backorder, then they said they had no tracking information, then they said they had no tracking info because there was a "national freeze" on DME's for the M5. What the hell is a national freeze? Anyone heard of anything like this?
The DME got here today, installed it, the problem is still there. Purportedly, they called BMW Tech Support (in the morning) who did not return their phone call by the end of today. Why doesn't someone answer the phone/question when a service tech calls? Sounds fishy to me. Now the Service Mgr is supposed to call a regional tech person to come and look at the car.

I think I'm being fed a bunch of horseshit. The dealer (Crown BMW of Greensboro NC) doesn't seem terribly concerned with getting my car back on the road nor with following up on promises to keep me informed of their progress (which means I keep calling them because they won't follow through with a follow-up).

Any suggestions? Is there a phone number at BMW NA that I can for problems with service support?

Thanks for letting me vent.
