The Lojack broadcasts the car's location at all times. The system is installed in a hidden part of the car. If car is stolen, call police, give VIN to them, they then can locate the car's where-abouts.
Your local BMW dealer should be able to sell and install it for you. I have it instaled in my '01 M5. I "Don't leave home without it".......
