I'm sure this has been discussed at length but here are my observations...

Most dealers say they charge MSRP. Some dealerships appear to ask for more. I've heard stories on this board that sound like some dealers may take "bribes" to accelerate some folks.

Waiting lists work as such....
A deposit gets you on the list (the $$ varies).
Once your name is up (on the dealers allocation) you pick your color & options. Then you wait 3-4 months for the build and ship...

Once a car is available (outside of the person who ordered it), anything goes. Hendrick BMW told of an M5 on their used lot (300 miles on the odo.) that sold for $84,000 in 24 hours.

BTW, I'm from Charlotte but I prefer dealing with dealers other than Hendrick. Besides, they have shorter lists. I'm on an M5 list elsewhere.
