I'm on an inpsection trip to Ft Lauderdale on Jan 8th, 01. I'm off the plane,...exit the airport and low 'n behold this is the first thing I see dead straight ahead. First, a trivia question: What's silver, has 4 doors, has distinct kidney grills, 400 screamin stallions, sticks to tarmac like Double-Mint gum - has wide ass rear tires and looks like it's doing 140 PARKED.

Yes my fellow Bimmerphiles, I was grace with the presence of a BMW E39 M5 IN THE METAL. It was and is a truly awesome car. You had to be there. The owner must've been close by, because the engine was still running. Now that's being brave. I've seen the E28 M5 (we know the history, still an awesome car), I've seen an E34 M5 (it too brings slobber). I was totally taken by the presence of the E39 ///M5. I mean, here I am, a bonafide 1997 ///M3 owner for more than a year and I'm slobbering over an M5 like a kid of a father who owns the candy store. Life is really Grand!!
