I can sympathize since the local Harley dealer was equally as notorious for a very fluid "waiting list" until HD clamped down on them. But the local BMW dealer actually had to hound me to come take delivery. First, he called repeatedly to get me to come by and specify options. When it was nearly time for the car to be delivered, he also called me multiple times. When the car was on the lot, I was out of town for a week and found multiple messages on my return. And all of this for an MSRP vehicle. I don't know what the allocation is for "little" Raleigh, NC, but I heartily recommend Mark Bertrand at Leith BMW.

The reason I was somewhat foot-dragging is that I already owned a 2000 C5 and was NOT convinced that I would be very impressed by a car that costs twice as much and didn't -- imho -- look nearly as sporty and doesn't post very different numbers statistically speaking. I wasn't even terribly convinced after the initial test drive. But I am a convert now and I'm very grateful that the dealer didn't stop hounding me and just go further down the list. A VERY ethical man to deal with.

I know how you feel and it's not uncommon in many areas of the US too. When a dealer takes a deposit and tells you "your on the list", where exactly are you? Many dealers will promise a certain time range (should be in March or April), and then jockey your spot around for those willing to pay more $$$. Even after you have picked your colors, did you see him enter it in the computer or get any sort of confirmation receipt? Of course not, it's on a notepad that then sits "out of the system" until you scream loud, or the market softens enough to put it in production.

Sorry to say, your dealer is no different than many in the US.
