Why not call an installer in VA and ask him? I'm sure he's heard this question before.

I bought a '01 M5 from a NJ dealership - expected delivery 3/15. I'm thinking of getting a radar detector installed in the car before I drive it back to VA. I talked to the dealer and he said that they can install a detector that is hidden in the front and back bumper. Radar detectors are illegal in the state of Virginia. Any advice? Can the police detect it if you have it turned on? If they catch me, do I have to rip it out? I don't think I want one hanging from the sun visor. Thanks for your help in advance. Bob
