Experience: great.
Cost: whatever you want it to be.
At least as of the time we bought the car, there was no price break on Euro Delivery M5s (unlike other BMWs, which typically get 7% off US MSRP.)
Zero-deductible (on the vehicle; no coverage on contents) insurance, roadside assistance, etc. are all paid. Shipment costs, marine insurance, etc. are also included.
So your costs are basically dependent on whether your tastes in lodging verge toward tents or Relais et Chateaux.
I've got an embryonic Euro Delivery FAQ and the writeup on our 1998 540i Euro Delivery trip at http://www.milleredp.com/~jem
Haven't finished HTMLizing last year's M5 trip yet. Highlights: Wiesbaden, the Hotel Traube Tonbach in Baiersbronn, the Daimler-Benz Museum, the French national auto museum (the Schlumpf collection) in Mulhouse, the Auberge du Moulin Hideux in Belgium, meeting with Volker and dynoing the car at Kelleners Sport in Dinslaken.
