Correct oil (archive)

Just a note I thought people might like to know on this matter. I have a end of March built M5 and it recenty went in for its 1200 mile service. They used 5/40 oil I
question this as under the hood there is plate which says use 10/60. Any way after talking to a rep from BMW north America and some resurch on his part with
Germany, they have assured me that the car was built after the change and should use 5/40. This still conflicts with the lable but Iam assured its what the car uses
Could be a confusing issue as the car gets older and needs oil changes say out of BMW service sure I can remove the lable but Iam sure it will always come up as
a question. I bet Iam not the only one this has happened to.
