I am having significant slippage in my clutch at 25,000 miles. Probably, had it before now like many others but did not pay close enough attention. I want BMW to replace under warranty or full maintenance and I don't care what they call it. I agree with those saying it is a design defect.

My clutch went at 11,700 miles. Replaced by my dealer at no charge to me. You should expect the same. Under no circumstances should you have to pay for a clutch repair, as it would set a dangerous precedent. Clutch failures seem to be too common for this torque monster. Search this board, and www.bmwm5.com discussion board for others who have had similar issues.

If this happens to enough of us, BMW will have no choice but to order a recall, or at least replace the clutch with something stronger. So far, they have been putting in the same as the original.
