True, but it won't have an M5's resale value either.
Frankly, I think it's a perfectly decent car, people turn '69 Camaros into Z/28 clones all the time. 523i E39s with the M appearance kit are all over Europe.
It's certainly not offensive, unlike for instance chopping the roof off a perfectly nice Ferrari Daytona to create a fake Spyder.
On the other hand, if the car is as unique as you feel it is, why sully it with a common M5 badge?
