If one sentence could describe the M5 driving experience it would be: "a steel fist in a velvet glove". The car is so smooth, that sometimes you forget the're a beast under all that luxury. The E39 is way more forgiving in stop & go traffic than the E34. During long drives in top gear, it's like cruising in a private jet.

SNOW! unless you have snow tires forget it! I would never put such an expensive car at risk in a snowstorm anyway. But, thats just me. Other owners in our forum (bmwm5.com) seem to manage just fine with snow shoes.

If you're sitting on the fence, just go for it. '02 will be the final year for the E39.
