Negotiating price before availability (archive)

I'm going to put in an order on a 2002 5 series very soon, and I was curious what terms you guys used to negotiate a price for the car before official pricing from BMW was available. A % off MSRP ? A % above invoice ? (Although I guess some folks had a % ABOVE MSRP :)
