can '97 528 touring suspension be stiffened? (archive)

The suspension on my touring is way too soft (even softer than my old e34 525ix). I know that the self leveling suspension now uses air and this is a softer experience but can the car be given a stiffer ride? If only the front dampers are changed that could drastically affect the road holding or wouldn't it? Can the ride be lowered rear and front?
