The C4 just didn't have the power and torque that I expected from Porsche

Phew! Thought it was just me. Ditto :)

Frankly, I expected a lot more grunt for my money. A lot more. Both the M5 and E55 deliver it in bucketloads, and the Hasim Rahman punch they throw at any given speed is so much more apparent. And for me that's what counts -- driver enjoyment. The rush of going fast. Sure, you get a buzz from just being in a Porsche, but soon the novelty wears off, especially on long hauls when the drone from the tyres and the squeak from the plastic drive you round the bend. Literally.

I have to say that, having owned one, I'll never figure out the allure of a 911 (although, as you say, the Turbo does seem to be the one to have). Seeing them in the street no longer holds any mystique, as I am now firmly of the belief that they are bought primarily for reasons of status.

Turbo Boxster... well, now there's an idea!

Jamie -- London, UK.
