Don't worry about it - been there done that.

My 11/99 build used a quart in 275 miles once, and the dealer didn't even want to hear about until I had 7k or 8k on the car. I've heard every theory about oval pistons, to crome-moly rings, to oil impregnated cylinder walls as to the reason. The main thing to remember is that unless it's all over your garage floor, it will get better over time. I'm getting more than 1500 miles/qt. once I hit 10k miles on the car. Before 5k on the car, it was about 1qt/600 miles.

Get some sleep now.

I HAVE A 2001 M5 AND AFTER 1700 MILES I HAD TO ADD OIL. I KNOW THE CAR BURNS OIL SO ADDING OIL WAS NOT A SUPRISE. BUT TODAY 500 MILES LATER I HAD TO ADD OIL AGAIN. TO TELL THE TRUTH I HAVE BEEN RIDING THE CAR HARD SINCE THE LAST TIME I ADDED OIL. I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THAT WAS NORMAL OR IF I SHOULD GO TO THE DEALER ABOUT THE OIL CONSUMPTION?
THANKS GUYS
PAUL (EM PWR)
