I like Avus, but Ford had the same problem in 1974. Their Florida Sunset Orange on the Pinto Cruising Van was not quit ready and the first 300 were painted Tangerine Splash Orange, actually a Maverick color!


It is not the same color, although very close. BMW changed from Avus to LeMans after about 6 months of M5 production. Rumor has it that they had trouble with the LeMans, so they used Avus until the problem was worked out. This makes Avus very unique for the M5.

I have a question regarding the LeMans blue color. Is it new for 2001? Is it the same as Avus blue? Did it take the place of Avus blue, or is Avus still available. Thanks.
