CPT8000 phone in M5; how hard to install myself? (archive)

the dealer quoted $1795 for the cpt8000 phone installed, and their parts dept quoted $1000 even for the parts; thats $795 for the install in whats supposed to be A PREWIRED CAR. They pulled the same bs on my old 328 and then 540, and i just ended up doing it myself on both; took about an hour on the first one (i didnt know what i was doing) and 20 minutes on the second (i was now an experience installer!)

how long will this phone take? what do you have to do to install a prewired phone with the official kit from bmw?
is it really worth $795?
