If they take August off, why don't they just start production of the new model year after they get back instead of starting for a couple of days and then take a month off???

In Europe, almost every single country takes off for a month in august. They go to the beach and relax and eat. When they come back from this month off in late august, the 2002 model year begins. The last 2001 models will be produced toward the end of july/early august.
