List out the things in your car which are either assisted or automated:

Brakes
Steering
Windows
Sunroof
Climate control
Seats
Central locking...

...even the dang boot lid!

I'm sure you'll agree, the list is almost endless.

Given that automating a process is often a way to speed it up and make it more efficient, why would you want to screw around with a manual 'box?

I've had 40+ cars, and the last six have all been automatic. Why? Because modern automatics are smooth, refined, slur the changes so you feel as though you're making one continuous movement from A to B, and as the E55 proves they don't always have to be slower than manuals.

It's all entirely subjective, of course, and if you prefer a manual shift that's just fine. However, accusing me of being (a) old and (b) lazy is just plain silly...
