i have a vibration in my gear-shift that seems to be rpm-dependent. also, my car seems to have quite abit of engine clatter (vanos?...doc?) and is really rough, especially at idle.

i brought the car into the dealership twice...they performed a diagnostic twice and said that everything was in order. a bmw master technician also looked at/drove the car and said the car was no different than all of the other ms that he had driven. he brought me into to shop floor to see another m5(my 2000) that they were working on. this car had even more engine clatter than my car.

perhaps this is just the genetics of m engines?
