Bay Area. Of course sales in the US could be much higher that the M5, and the aged MB drivers are crashing them!
Rarely seeing one is half the point of the E55! It's just as fast as an M5 yet twice as stealthy :)
As with more specialist marques it is made in strictly limited numbers and does not come rolling out the factory gates in large numbers. AMG produce less than 3,000 E55s anually; M5s are already selling in four figure numbers to the U.S. market alone. Certainly if you've ever been to Europe, where the 5-series has been a top seller for some time (seems you guys are just about wising up to the benefits of buying abroad), you'll know they're not exactly the rarest sight on the road...
