Fully loaded, the M5 has features that you can't get in the M3. (Ok, even base-model M5's have features like 4-doors and 400HP that you can't get in the M3, but you get my point)

Just curious, what states charge 8.25% sales tax on cars? Here in Texas it's 6.25%. There goes $500 of that difference right there.

I think the reason you see people talking about a $10k difference is that you can get M5's out-the-door for under $80k right now without much wait. With the M3 you have either a long wait for MSRP or a high premium that brings it up to close to M5 pricing.
