17 inch wheels on M5 (archive)

Hey guys,
Did anyone on this board use 17 or below winter wheels. I know that most of you do not drive the M5 in the winter, but of the ones that did, did 17 inch wheels fit over the brakes? I want to do a brake upgrade on my 540 and was thinking about putting on M5 rotors and calipers. I want to continue to use the original 17X8 wheels that came with my 97. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
