Question on aluminum trim. (archive)

The aluminum trim on my M5 is starting to lose its color - kind of tarnishing, especially the panel around the gear stick. Do other owners have similar problems? Is there any cleaning solvent that will fix? Is it covered under warranty? I think its starting to look tacky - certainly not befitting the car!
