996 Porsche -- great to be seen in, not so great to drive. Nasty interior, noisy, poor seats. PSM makes it great in the snow if you go for the C4.

M5 -- totally dependable, totally fast. Hard going in heavy traffic or around town. Never driven one in the snow, sorry :)

M3 -- not driven the new one, but my '97 Evo Convertible was noisy, frantic fun. Awful in the snow.

GS430 -- very much a "nothing" car. Avoid!

SC430 -- never even seen one...

Given the budget, and given the fact you're posting to the M5 forum, I'd opt for -- shock -- an M5 or the Mercedes equivalent (E55 AMG, CLK 55 AMG).
