Jesse: I'd be interested in hearing what TX dealers have short M5 lists at MSRP. Can you e-mail me?
Some dealers in the DFW area no longer even accept deposits. John Roberts told me they'd take the deposit but their list is long. They told me they average delivering 2 units in a month, and the wait is 9 - 12 months. They are also adding a premium that puts the cars in the mid 80s.
I was able to get on two lists outside TX with dealers selling at MSRP. I am #3 on both lists. Each dealer told me it would be approx 6 months before delivery. They also advised that buyers sometimes drop off the list. I assume that some buyers, like me, have multiple positions, buy the first car that they can and give up the other positions. (I have absolutely no respect for individuals who are trying to arbitrage delivery positions into a resale profit).
