Vince,

I actually have both a 2000 740i sport and a 2000 M5. Since the day I picked up the M5, the 740 became my wife's daily driver. The 740 sport is a phenomenal car and has outstanding performance characteristics but can't compare to the level of performance of the M5.

I would say that if high performance is important to you, you should get the M5. If you have the oppourtunity I would highly recommend test driving one, that should answer all your questions :)

OK I have a couple of questions for you guys. First off have any of you ever owned both, a 740i sport and a M5?? I know they are two completely different cars but which do you prefer?? Any serious difference in the ride quality, and comfort? The reason I'm asking is because my dad's lease is fixing to come up on his 7 so hes debating to give it up and get an M5 or to buy the 7. He likes the size of the 7 and the handling, and the power, although I'm sure the M5 has better handling and definatly more power. Anyway just wanted to see what you guys have to say about this. Thanks for any input!
